Yellow Gallé Large Cat

The GallÉ Design Is Named After The French Designer Emile GallÉ, Who Made Pottery Cats In His Ceramics Factory In Nancy From The Late 1870S. It Is Thought That Robert Heron, The Owner Of Wemyss Ware®, Was Very Impressed With The Bold Yellow Cat With Hearts And Roundels Which He Saw In One Of The Paris Great Exhibitions At The End Of The Nineteenth Century. He Bought One And Decided To Have A Similar Cat Made In The Wemyss® Way – Similar But Subtly Different. The GallÉ Cat Is One Of Our Most Popular Designs.

The Yellow Gallé Cat Is Based On A Design By The French Potter And Furniture Maker Emile Gallé. It Now Forms Part Of The Logo Of Kirkcaldy Galleries, And Can Be Seen Gracing The Side Of The Museum Bus. Both Colourful And Cheerful, Its Smile Lights Up Any Room.
